Shocked bystanders watched as a crowd of extras and actors waving fake guns charged along a Manhattan road in a scene for The Dark Knight Rises, which stars Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader.

Almost 1,000 extras, along with actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt wearing a Gotham City Police Department uniform, took part in the shoot close to the city's financial district.

Filming will continue in the area over the weekend (05-06Nov11) and posters have been put up around the neighbourhood by producers, warning residents to expect fake gunfire in the next few days, according to Dnainfo.com.

The notice from Subconscious Productions reads, "The scenes we will be filming will have simulated gunfire and automatic weapon fire. Be assured, we are working in close cooperation with the NYPD Movie and Television Unit as well as the FDNY."

The film, which also stars Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman, is due for release in July 2012.

He has been hopping from one city to another promoting his latest flick RA.One. But for his 46th birthday on Wednesday, Shah Rukh Khan says he wants some relaxed time with friends and family.

The actor, who plays a superhero in RA.One, has been acting like one in real life, thanks to the number of promotional and marketing activities he planned around the release of his most ambitious home production.

After multi-city promotions in Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bhopal, Vadodara, Chennai and Bangalore, Shah Rukh went to Dubai, London, Toronto and Los Angeles.

Though he was excited about attending the F1 party where international pop star Lady Gaga performed, he was quite unsure of his own birthday bash.

"I don't know (whether I will throw a party or not)...let's see," Shah Rukh told IANS.

Once you are friends with Salman Khan, he will always be there for you, when you need him. Well, South stunt master FEFSI Vijayan can vouch for that.

Salman Khan especially flew down to Chennai yesterday to attend the music launch of Markandeyan, which stars Sabarish, son of FEFSI Vijayan, in the lead role.

FEFSI Vijayan is the man who has directed the stunts of Salman Khan’s films such as Wanted, Dabangg and the upcoming Bodyguard. Salman shares a very good rapport with him, and when Vijayan invited Salman to grace the music launch of Markandeyan, Salman promptly agreed.

At the music launch, Salman, along with south stars Shriya Saran and actor Vijay lit the ceremonial lamp and launched the music. Despite the presence of a few Tamil film stars, it was Salman Khan who hogged everyone’s attention.
